Mr. William E. Gerwing
Director, Western Hemisphere Health, Safety, Security & Environment, BP America Inc.
Bill Gerwing, Director of Environmental Policy for BP’s Western Hemisphere Region, is responsible for developing and implementing regional strategies to advance BP’s Corporate views on emerging HSE matters. Bill has over twenty years of knowledge and experience within the Health, Safety, and Environment field, gained through a number of diverse assignments with the corporate and operating business units within BP and Amoco. He began his career as Product Stewardship Coordinator for Amoco’s refining and marketing business. He then joined the Corporate Crisis Management Team overseeing the coordination and development of emergency response and crisis management planning activities. These positions were followed by a series of assignments within the downstream and chemical business units. He led teams accountable for the development of policies and programs addressing the growing complexity related to environmental permitting, safety, remediation, and HSE issues management. Following the merger with BP he was appointed to BP Chemicals as the Director of HSE and Issues Management for North America. In 2003 Bill rejoined the corporate HSSE function, being appointed to his current role as the Director of Environmental Policy for BP’s Western Hemisphere business.
