Ms. Josephine Cooper
Croup Vice President, Toyota Motor North America, Inc.
Josephine Cooper is group vice president, government and industry affairs, for Toyota Motor North America (TMA). Prior to joining Toyota in February 2004, Ms. Cooper served as president and chief executive officer of the Alliance of Automobile Manufacturers. From 1992 to 1999, Ms. Cooper was vice president for regulatory affairs at the American Forest & Paper Association, and previously, she served as senior vice president at the Synthetic Organic Chemical Manufacturers Association. Cooper co-founded Capitoline International Group, Ltd., a Washington, D.C. public affairs firm, and also established an international environmental and energy practice at Hill and Knowlton, Inc. She began her professional career in North Carolina with U.S. EPA’s air regulatory program in Research Triangle Park.
Cooper serves on several boards and advisory groups, including the EPA Clean Air Act Advisory Committee, the Board of Visitors for Duke University’s Fuqua School of Business and the Business Advisory Board of Meredith College, among others. She has also served as president of the Organization International des Constructeurs d’Automobiles (OICA), the International Association of Motor Vehicle Manufacturers, headquartered in Paris, France.
Cooper was recognized in 2001 by the Washingtonian magazine as one of the “100 Most Powerful Women in Washington.”
