The Washington Summit on Climate Stabilization will convene a world-class group of experts to assess the likelihood that we are tipping toward abrupt and highly disruptive climate change. As we celebrate the Climate Institute’s 20th anniversary, we expect to identify practical methods of achieving the stabilization of global greenhouse concentrations within the lifetime of the Summit’s attendees.

The science symposium will explore the implications of changes in the intensity of hurricanes and other severe weather events, in the melting rates of glaciers and ice sheets, in the incidence and severity of drought, and in the impacts on ecosystems and human health.

The Summit will highlight specific examples of corporate innovation that are making a difference and can serve as an example for others.

The Summit will build partnerships among those committed to collaboration in coastal protection, climate adaptation, and climate stabilization.

The launching of the International Leadership Alliance for Climate Stabilization will create a coalition of island nations and states or provinces within populous developing countries committed to pioneering climate protection strategies.
